We Are Your Nuisance Wildlife Control Experts

At Mucky Boot Pest Control, we offer trapping programs for skunks, raccoons, snakes, bats, squirrels, coyotes, and other creatures. No matter what nuisance wildlife you face, we have the expertise to handle it.

Our Simple Start Program

Inspection

Our simple start program starts with a $150 inspection. During the inspection, our Wildlife Control Expert, Dana, will visit to see what you are dealing with and develop a trapping program that works for your needs.

Traps

Dana will set at least two traps and bait and activate the traps. It is $50 for every animal caught.

For snakes, this includes catching and relocating on the same day.

Program Estimate

Our estimate will include humane live trapping and removal, exclusion work, sealing entry points, cleanup, and disinfection if necessary.

Why Choose Mucky Boot Pest Control?

It is crucial to choose a company that is knowledgeable about wildlife laws, has a great relationship with wildlife control, and will keep your safety in mind throughout the process. At Mucky Boot Pest Control, we are certified and licensed to trap and remove nuisance wildlife.

It is highly advised not to mess with a trap or an animal caught. Dana should be the only one to remove them. This includes feral cats, which can carry the same diseases as raccoons and skunks.

Types of Wildlife We Service

Caution: Please do not interact with the below animals, as they will protect themselves if they feel threatened.

Skunks

Skunks are easily identified by their black-and-white markings. Utah has two species of skunks, the Western Spotted Skunk and the Striped Skunk. Skunks have scent glands, which produce a thick, oily, and very odorous fluid called musk. Skunks use this scent to mark territories and to ward off predators, usually as a last resort. The spray, containing an irritating sulfur compound, is ejected from glands near the rectum. The spray can spread up to 15 feet, so don’t get too close.

Raccoons

Raccoons are incredibly adaptive creatures, as they are one of the best at taking advantage of new habitats. They are not native to Utah, but they are here in abundance. They can live in wooded areas, by rivers and streams, or within city limits making chimneys, attics, garages, and even under houses their home. They are nocturnal, so you may have them around and never see them.

According to USU Extension*, raccoons also may carry fleas, ticks, lice, distemper, mange, rabies, and canine and feline parvovirus. The results of recent blood tests conducted on raccoons in Utah indicated that over 80% of those tested had been exposed to rabies, as indicated by the presence of a rabies titer. Raccoon feces may also contain the roundworm egg. Humans, especially children, that come into contact with raccoon feces containing eggs of this roundworm can also become infected.

Snakes

There are 31 species of snakes in Utah, but only seven of them are venomous. These venomous seven include the Great Basin Rattlesnake, Great Prairie Rattlesnake, Hopi Rattlesnake, Midget Faded Rattlesnake, Mojave Green Rattlesnake, Speckled Rattlesnake, and the Western Terrestrial After Snake. The venomous snakes in Utah have broad, triangular-shaped heads and vertical eye pupils. If you cannot tell what kind of snake it is, please treat it as though it is venomous and contact us. Most snakes can be beneficial around the home, but we are still happy to help you remove them. Snakes are classified as non-game animals and protected by Utah state laws.

To help keep your house “unattractive” to snakes, ensure you don’t have wood or rock piles for them to hide in, and keep rodents away—which we can help with, too!

Bats

There are 18 species of bats found in Utah. Bats are found in many different habitats, from caves to buildings. They can also nest in attics, eaves of houses, and chimneys. Bats are incredible creatures, and Utah law protects all bat species. It is illegal to kill bats intentionally. Additional federal protection is extended to bat species on the Endangered Species List.

Bats can cause significant damage to your home if left untreated. They only need a one-fourth-inch opening to enter. Our service for bats includes a total clean out and sanitation for areas affected, as well as sealing entry points and adding chimney caps if needed. Please refrain from attempting to catch bats on your own, as this service is best completed by trained and licensed professionals.

June 1st to August 30th is mating and maternity season for bats. During this time, it is FORBIDDEN to remove bats from homes as flightless baby bats are unlikely to be able to escape and will likely die in your attic or walls without their mother. If you have a bat on your property or in your house, we CANNOT and WILL NOT touch them until September 1st, it is against the law, and we would lose our license if we tried.

Squirrels

There are various squirrel species in Utah, and with it comes a variety of treating them. Squirrels are incredibly intelligent, and those with bird feeders know they will figure out how to get to those seeds, even with new obstacles in their way.

Ground squirrels are the only species of squirrel that hibernate; others are more active in the mornings and evenings, and some stay just as active in the winter months as they do in the warmer months.

They might be cute, but squirrels are very destructive. They can destroy healthy trees, unpack all the boxes in your attic, turn your insulation into confetti, overhaul your home’s siding, nest under solar panels, and gnaw through the wiring. Please don’t wait to call us; massive amounts of damage can be done in a very short time frame.

Beavers

The largest of the rodent species, beavers construct dams, ponds, and canals to gain reliable access to food resources. For most people who have had experiences with beavers, it isn’t the most positive, with beavers plugging up culverts, chewing down trees, or flooding parking lots. Beavers can be a problem when they’re in the wrong places; however, beavers are very beneficial when they’re in the right places. They are not the easiest to trap and must be relocated carefully. At Mucky Boot Pest Control, we work closely with DWR when trapping beavers.

Foxes

The red fox can be found throughout North America, Europe, and Asia. Red foxes are common in Utah and typically found in open and semi-open habitats, although they are occasionally found in cities and residential areas.

The red fox is a member of the canid family, along with wolves, coyotes, and domestic dogs. Foxes are cunning omnivores and talented scavengers. They feed primarily on small mammals, insects, amphibians, fish, fruits, berries, nuts, eggs, and carcasses.

Red foxes may be active at any time but are most active at dawn and dusk. Screeching yowls, barking, yipping, and howling are common calls. Foxes also have a powerful musky odor.

Please know that live trapping can be dangerous, and there are laws about what can be done with a caught animal and where it can be taken or relocated. If you have caught an animal in your own trap and would like us to remove it for you, we charge a fee, but we are happy to come and get it from you and return your trap.

I know people already rave about Dana Mucky Boot Pest Control but I’m here to rave even more. We had invasive Starlings nest in this dryer vent, easily 25’ in the air on the side of our house. I called around and was quoted $500+ for the removal…

I called Dana on a Sat, he answered my call and gave me a quote over the phone (SIGNIFICANTLY less than $500) and he came out on Monday. He was honest, reliable and did an amazing job. He also did a discreet job of not telling my family exactly what was happening to the babies which I’m MORE THAN GRATEFUL for! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ for him!

We had Dana clean our roof and install barriers around our solar panels to keep the pigeons from nesting under them. He did such an amazing job and we are so glad we contacted him to help us out! My only regret is not calling him sooner. Thank you so much!!!
